APEP study trips: investing in personal contacts
The Atlantic & Pacific Exchange Program (APEP) is a one-of-a-kind organization, thanks to a specialism that is as unique today as it was when APEP was founded: high-level international study trips arranged for governments and businesses, either upon request or on an invitation basis.
Non-profit, neutral and independent, APEP was established in 1983 with the aim of improving mutual understanding between the Netherlands and the United States by promoting first-hand exchanges of knowledge. Founded by an American journalist (Bob Williams, who remained APEP’s president until his retirement in 1995) and headquartered in Rotterdam, APEP soon expanded its activities to East Asia (mainly China and Japan), Canada, and other parts of Europe. Presidential Election Week 2012
Over two dozen top business and government executives from the Netherlands travelled to Washington, DC with APEP in the first week of November. As members of our Presidential Election Week 2012 delegation, led by former Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende, they were offered a unique opportunity to witness the elections, understand the workings of the US political system and talk to prominent insiders on Capitol Hill, at the State Department, lobby groups, the IMF, think tanks etc. Click here for a photo impression.
